Optimizing the Canonical Approach to Finite Density QCD

The canonical partition function employs a projection of the fermion determinant on a particular quark number sector. For practical reasons, an approximation of the projection is used. To understand the effects of this approximation, we need to study a generalized form of reweighting. Using the chemical potential and Polyakov loop as probes, we determine the reliable range of reweighting and the size of approximation errors. This allows us to optimize the parameters of our simulations. We present results based on 44 and 63 4 lattices.
