Heavy-Quark Masses from Three-Flavor Lattice QCD
Presenter: Elizabeth Freeland — School of the Art Inst of Chicago

We calculate the masses of the charmed and bottom quarks using 2+1 flavor lattice QCD and experimental values of Ds(*) and Bs(*) meson masses. We use improved staggered quarks for the sea quarks and for the strange valence quark. We use the Fermilab method for the heavy quarks. We compare two methods of quark-mass calculation. One is based on the binding energy of the rest mass and the other renormalizes the lattice kinetic mass.
