Baryon masses with dynamical twisted mass fermions

We present results on the mass of the nucleon and the Δ using two dynamical twisted mass quarks. The evaluation is performed at four quark masses corresponding to pion mass in the range of 430-280 MeV on lattices of size 2.3 fm and 3 fm. Lattice results are extrapolated to the physical limit using baryon chiral effective theory. The nucleon mass at the physical point provides a determination of the lattice spacing. We check for finite lattice spacing effects by evaluating the baryon masses on a lattice of size 2.2 fm with 25% smaller lattice spacing. The Δ++ and Δ+ are almost degenerate indicating that any flavor violating effects are small.
