Screening masses of mesons in 2+1 flavour QCD

We present preliminary results for the screening masses of light and strange mesons in 2+1 flavour QCD using improved (p4fat3) staggered fermions on 6×243 lattices. We investigate the screening masses of scalar, pseudo-scalar, vector and axial-vector mesons along the line of constant physics, determined by setting the pion mass ∼200 MeV and the kaon mass ∼500 MeV. For temperatures below the transition temperature we find that the screening masses of the pseudo-scalar mesons are larger than their masses at zero temperature. Our study also shows that even for temperatures larger than twice the transition temperature the screening masses are ∼20% smaller than those obtained for a free theory on the lattice. At these temperatures the screening masses in the pseudo-scalar and scalar channels are significantly different from that of the vector and axial-vector channels for the interacting theory, unlike in the case of a free theory.
